Career, motherhood or both?
kindest corner
During your twenties you’re supposed to make long hours, work hard and go after your goals. If being a mom is one of those goals, does that mean you have to quit the dream of achieving your career?

During your twenties, you’re supposed to make long hours, work hard and go after your goals. If being a mom is one of that goals, does that mean you have to quit the dream of achieving your career?  Motherhood also requires long hours, hard work, and commitment. It’s going to take time, and during that time it can get hectic and you’ll feel like you have to make sacrifices. Just know that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

We’re just going through a phase

Well, we’re not going to lie… Having a child really pauses your life. You disappear into the background and this tiny creature becomes the most important thing in your life. The first few months are literally: eating every 3 to 4 hours, changing diapers, and sleeping… So yeah, your career is in pause mode too. But since we are being honest, we also have to mention that this is just a phase. The newborn phase is hard, everything is new, you are constantly doubting yourself, and it feels like the baby is crying all the time… But in reality, how long is the baby actually crying?

It’s ok to feel overwhelmed by your emotions. A child brings a whole new life and it’s not easy getting used to your new lifestyle. Just know that everything is a phase. It will get better. And don’t be so hard on yourself! Woman, you just gave birth to a tiny human being and you’re fully responsible for it. Above all that, your hormone levels drop and you don’t feel like yourself…

When are you coming back

When that newborn phase is over and the last thing you want to think about is work, society comes knocking at your door. “WHEN ARE YOU COMING BACK?!” is all you’ll hear from your colleagues. Well nobody is quite ready for that, yet. It’s overwhelming to go back to work… But on the other hand, it can be relieving as well. You can finally just sit down and eat, drink your cup of coffee while it’s still hot, and dress yourself up without getting dirty. Also, you get to talk about other things than diapers and baby stuff. Yes, you can finally start feeling like your old self again instead of just a mom. And when the guilt kicks in and you start missing your baby, don’t worry. We all get that, even fathers.

Fathers have kids too

It’s totally normal to feel guilty and miss your baby. Sometimes it feels like the fathers have it all figured out… They have terrible nights too and give a hand whenever they can but somehow they manage to have a successful career and even get that promotion. While women feel like they’ve made a step back. Is it a cultural thing that women take a step back while men feel like they have to step up their game and make more money? The pressure is really on both of their shoulders. It’s really important to talk in advance about what you expect from each other and don’t just presume things … Maybe the father wants to take a step back and take care of the child. Why not? Maybe no one has to take a step back and grandparents really want to help out.

Just do you

We live in a society where literally everything is possible. Don’t waste your time on what other people expect or what other people are going to think of you. WHO CARES ANYWAY? Just do you and focus on yourself!

For example, stay home moms. People think they have nothing to do all day. The truth is, having a baby at home and your household is a full-time job!

Whether you are self-employed, a stay home mom, or an employee, you will notice that PLANNING is key. Having structure in your life is necessary. It’s really important for babies and children, but actually, you need it too. When you manage to do so, you will find a good balance between work and parenting.

It can be a struggle sometimes, whether you’re pursuing a career, being a stay home mom, or whatever choice you make in life. What really helps is giving yourself affirmation every day so you never stop believing in yourself, because we won’t.

Don’t worry, you won’t have to smear your mirror with affirmation sentences, in our shop you can find affirmation mirrors as a reminder that you’re doing great by just doing you!

What choice did you make? A career, a big family, or just several cats? Let us know in the comments and share your experience with others!
